Hardware & More
We are more than just a place to buy tools and paint. Located in Historic Mount Pleasant, Old School is a classic neighborhood hardware store — a depot for home project supplies, a classroom to learn new skills, a gathering point for familiar faces and a place where your questions can always be answered!
Old School Hardware is an active member of the Mount Pleasant Business Association. It is a wonderful place to visit, shop and relax. In addition to many fine restaurants catering to tastes ranging from Korean to Latin American, there are boutique stores and discount shopping, and plenty of businesses that cater to your daily life, such as a bakery, a dentist, a pharmacy, a jeweler, dry cleaners and laundromats, as well as many others.
We are also a proud member of Think Local First, a business association dedicated to promoting locally based businesses and developing a robust local economy. When you shop local, you are making a concious decision to keep your dollars in your community. That means jobs and opportunity stay here instead of being sent to some distant corporate headquarters.
We purchase our electricity from Clean Currents, a wind power supplier to residential and commercial customers in Maryland, Washington, DC, Pennsylvanie, and Delaware. We try to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible and part of the commitment is fulfilled by purchasing renewable energy.
In 2011, Old School Hardware became a Certified Business Enterprise by the District of Columbia. We are anxious to work with other businesses that require CBE partners.
About The Website
We're proud of our new website.
Special thanks to Darren Higgins who did all the amazing photography. We really think he did a great job of capturing the Big City/Small Town nature of the store and its customers.
Our fantastic Web Design was developed jointly by Amy Patnovic and Andrew Weishaar. We think their design really invites you to interact with the site and other customers in the same way you might when you visit the store.
We would also like to thank all of our fabulous models: Jimmy Beavers, China Terrell, Jackie Flanagan & her children, Eddy Janney, Robert Frazier, William Hester, Kyla Dickson, Murphy Antoine & and two of his children, and Colin Delaney (who showed up, but didn't get his picture taken). They are all folks you'll see in the store or around the neighborhood. They are also great customers who happily agreed to help us out. Thank you!
